Turklings!

turkey family

Baby turkeys are officially called poults, but isn’t Mike’s name for them better? These baby turkeys started playing in our yard a couple weeks ago, explaining why Daddy Turkey (he’s the one all pouffed out) has been gobbling at us for the past several weeks. They run off if we come outside, but I did manage to get a closer photo of this little straggler:

  1. Daddy turkey looks quite intimidating, good thing that turklings and kids don’t come into close contacts. You have quite a wild life to observe in your backyard :)

That Daddy Turkey is impressive!! And I love appropriate made-up names. Turkling is infinitely preferable to poult.

  3. So cute! I love the name. I love living in the city, but one of the things I really miss is seeing outrageous wildlife in the backyard :).
