Emma was missing Mike during one of his recent business trips, so she made these two trees for him. I was thrilled to see her finding a creative outlet for her sadness, and to see a recognizable craft emerge from the millions of tiny scraps of paper I have swept up over and over (and over) for the past several years!
She drew and cut out the trees (and tiny hearts for the second tree!) all by herself – I just gave her the card stock in her requested colors. My little girl is growing up!

Bless her sweet heart! This is such a special memory. I love her tree with the hearts. I bet Mike loved this!
All by herself, wow that’s an awesome job your little artist did!
That is one very special tree. What a precious surprise for Mike when he returned home.
I love when they make their own, self-initiated projects. And I know what you mean about the paper scraps!
I bet he treasured those trees when he came home!
What a great job she did. How wonderful that you’ve created an environment that she was able to do that to get a handle on her feelings. Good for you, and her. :)
That is just so sweet. Melt my heart!!!!!!!! I love the little hearts she drew. I’m not sure what touched me more, Emma’s trees or Mike’s comment!!!!!!!!!
So sweet! Emma is so creative!
They are adorable!

Oh, they are beautiful! I love Mike’s comment — so cute!! :-)
Very impressive!! I made some crafts for my dad when he was away on business, but none of them were as well designed as these! Go Emma!
Next time I’ll make paper trees when I miss Emma.
Oh my goodness the scraps of paper my Princess can destroy……
I love Emma’s trees.
