The kids built this miniature tree house this week using sticks, flowers, leaves, and yarn. They had a fair bit of help from Aunt K, who they originally commissioned to help them build full-size monkey bars (using the same materials). They are still trying to convince her that their original vision is possible…
Aunts are awesome!!!

This tree house is very cute and lovely because it is made by kids.
Super cute, I love the flowers and lashing.
Oh! So cute!!! I bet they had lots of fun! :-)
What a beautifully decorated tree house!! What a special time for your whole family to look back on in years to come.
Hi Maryanne — So glad I stumbled across your great blog! Kudos for all you do to help promote the children & Nature connection.
Treehouses (real ones in trees) have such great potential for kids. Too bad there are so many forces at work against their widespread resurgence. Did you ever build one as a girl?
My dad built us one when I was a kid – so much fun!!!
OMG, your sister looks so much like you! How great it is that she is visiting to help you out on this last stretch.
It’s really nice having her here!!!
I love this. What a great outdoor creation.
Thanks, Jen!
Aunts are awesome…and the tree house is delightful!
Love it! So cute they are getting to spend good time with their aunt!
I suppose the full size monkey bars could be possible if they imagined the creatures that would use them. ;)
lol – love it :)
So cute! Your sister looks a lot like you! I thought it was you at first. Cute picture of them.
I think we look a lot alike, but some people don’t see it.
That’s funny, my kids get very ambitious in the yard too!
This is awesome! Looks like K is having a great visit. :-)
It is extremely awesome having her here :)
I love it! Perfect for their favorite figures and dolls….. baby is almost here!!! AAAHHHH!! My Jewel just turned one, an I already miss having a baby lol enjoy her! ( I know you will)
I’m very excited to have a baby in the house again!
The other day my daughter stole some of my scrap yarn and started making a laser grid obstacle course for herself. Here is the story in more detail: http://www.typativemamacat.com/2012/07/action-hero-training-camp.html
How fun!!! Thanks for the link :D
I love it – my girls made something similar that they called a grasshopper’s house. Glad you are all having so much fun with your sister.
It would make a lovely grasshopper house! Love that name!!!
I love it!!! It must be great to have your sister there. Does she live nearby? I only have one sister and she is in upstate NY – we miss her; we only get to see her twice a year. Aunts are awesome!
She lives in Florida, so it’s a real treat to have her here!!! It’s the first time she’s been here since Lily was a newborn. She’s only 17, which makes her the super-cool aunt. :)
I do have another sister about 35 minutes away, so I’m lucky all the way around – and so are my kids! :)
How cool is that! And yes I agree Aunties are awesome!
Aunts are AWESOME! I love the tree house they made, it’s adorable!
