sewing tutorials for all ages

I live in Silicon Valley, California with my husband Mike and our four kids, who are 8, 7 (today!), 5, and 2 years old. I love crafts of any kind, and so do my kids! I don’t sew as much as I would like to, because this is what sewing looks like with four kids, although it is getting easier as they get older! Today I am also sharing this site’s sewing tutorials – there is something for all ages and abilities!

Here are some sewing projects from this site that you might enjoy:

  1. I honestly do not sew, but my youngest daughter is starting to learn. I’d use the bag for my crochet projects. Always need places to carry my yarny fun around. Thanks participating and I look forward to checking out the tutorials for my daughter!

  2. I love to sew quilts, though softies and other things are great too! And this bag would be great for laptops, and lugging stuff to//from the office. Thanks!

  3. I usually sew quilts, but am starting to try other things. Sewing a garment might even be one of my New Year’s resolutions – gasp!

  4. This is awesome! My girls want to learn to sew; they took a class but are not that proficient and I think they will be more motivated when they find a project they want to make … like the messenger bag!

  5. I do love to sew! It keeps me sane. Quilts, some bags, presents for friends and family…generally not clothing though. A seamstress I am not. Thanks!

  6. I love to sew for other people. But I plan to get back to sewing for myself in 2015. The messenger bag would make a great commuting bag. Thanks for the chance to win.

  7. I would use this tote for road trips. I’m always searching for a bag to put last minute items in to have in the front seat with me.

  8. Awesome giveaway! Your bag looks beautiful! I belong to a few quilting groups, do BOMs at two of my LQS and would love to have this as a new project bag.

Thank you for a super giveaway and a chance to win.

  13. Ditto for me, I love making quilts and zippered pouches. I’d use the messenger bag for jury duty next week- 2 full days in the courthouse- but it probably won’t get here in time!

  14. I make quilts, tote bags and zipper pouches and other things for others…. One day I’ll make something for me!
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  16. I love to sew anything and everything. Sewing makes me happy. Thank you so much for your giveaway.

  17. l am just learning sewing and quilting this year-taking classes at my local quilt shop. I hope to learn how to make bags and totes next year.

  18. I am not a purse person, but I am a mobile crafter so I would house my current WIP in this beautiful bag! Thanks for the chance to win!

  19. I love to sew baby gifts- bibs, embroidered onesies. Mamas usually appreciate something handmade and I like quick project that doesn’t stay on my sewing machine for months :).

  20. i will be learning how to sew dresses for my daughters pow wow regalia. i would use this bag for my crochet items.

  21. I like to sew for charity events….like dresses for orphans in Africa. I would use this bag to take my crocheting with me when I go to appts, sporting events, etc..

  22. Well if the granddaughters don’t claim it first…….yeah I probably won’t get a chance to use it, but they will love it. I love sewing bags myself.

This is rapidly becoming the most coveted bag in the blogosphere! :) I sew straight lines occasionally – to let out hems, turn flared trousers into skinnies, or to make blackout curtains. And wow, if I won your bag I’d carry it everywhere!

  24. Natalie PlanetSmartyPants

What a great round up of your sewing posts! I envision it to become very popular :)

  25. I like to make small household projects – things like tea towels, pillows, potholders, etc. They seem less daunting than big projects, and more forgiving than clothing.

  26. I love to sew bags and pouches – anything where I can mash up some different fabrics close to each other.

  27. I love sewing garments for my 8 great nieces and nephews. I love to sew baby blankets and placemats and pillows and table runners

  28. HI ! I’m not sure if I did Rafflecopter correct, but nonetheless…I wanted to tell you THANK YOU for all the great tutorials! What a gift right there! I’m learning to sew zipper pouches and PJ pants in flannel.

  29. I mostly quilt but I am trying to teach myself to sew bags and totes and such. Always nice to find a good tutorial. Thanks for the giveaway.

  30. I like to sew pretty things for my three girls! Love the bag! I would probably use it to tote my things to church. :)

  31. I love to sew quilts, especially for babies, and I’ve tried a couple of tote bags and zippered pouches. Thanks for the giveaway – your messenger bag is much more stylish than the plain black nylon one I usually carry to work, so I’d love to dress up my look a bit with it!

  32. I love to sew quilts best and also sew clothes and pillow covers with a bag tossed in here and there.

  33. I love to sew dress up clothes, costumes, clothes, random toys or stuff. Right now I’m working on 3 different Bible covers.

I’m following you on Instragram, but I may not have put in the correct username because I’m too lazy to look it up. Isn’t that horrid of me?

  34. I love to sew quilts and clothes, when I can squeeze a spare moment into my day. I would use the bag to carry sketch books.

  35. I would give this bag to my 5 yr old, who loves toting around her baby doll clothes and stuff. As for sewing, I have been sewing for so long that I really don’t have a favorite. I’m not afraid to try new things, and to fail as said things, and while I have some patterns that I’ve made many times, I’m always on the look out for different ideas.

  36. I love to sew skirts for my “waaaay to tall and skinny to fit your department store clothes” daughter …I would love to use the bag to take my writing supplies with me when I go to Starbucks (yes, I’m that person). Thanks for the chance!

  37. I love to sew clothing for my family and myself and various tote bags

  38. I love to sew things for other people. I love to sew things in general but when there is nothing like the joy in giving. This means I don’t make many things for myself. So if I won your great bag I’d use it because I think it looks lovely.
