As temperatures cool and days shorten, I’m taking a few minutes to set monthly goals for October 2025 to focus on what matters most.

How Did September Go?
What You'll Find on This Page
I set basic goals for September, knowing life would be very intense. I barely made progress on those, so I’m glad I kept things simple.
As much as I enjoy travel, it was really nice to be home. I think we will be home for most (all?) of October, so that will also be relaxing. Being home made it easier to spend time with people I care about. I caught up with my cousin who is in town for a year, my niece who I picked up from Monterey where she is studying as an army private, and several friends I hadn’t seen for a while.
Blogging Goals – How Did I Do?
I had hoped to get some new blog posts written. That didn’t happen, although I made some updates that needed to be done on older posts. I love looking back on old memories through posts like this spider web obstacle course, from when all four of my children were small enough to happily play under the dining room table. They are now four tall teenagers (two taller than me), and I haven’t seen them under a table for ages. They are every bit as wonderful as they were when they were small.
Chasing Work-Life Balance
I’m still working on juggling part time work, part time school, homeschooling L and A, plus all of the other life stuff. Homeschooling is going really well, so that’s a win! Work and school are also going fine, it’s just a lot to juggle. My youngest daughter A is very into ballet, and I’m actually pretty excited that her ballet company is not putting on the Nutcracker this year. She got to play Clara last year, and that was amazing. But getting this year off will simplify life, and they are planning a spring performance of Sleeping Beauty instead.
Things I Enjoy – Music and Sewing

I stitched the final stitch of this applique quilt top – now I just have to sew it all together, then sandwich, quilt, and bind it. The applique work took a couple of years; we’ll see how long it takes to finish.
September was a minimal music month; I’m adding more back in in October, so we’ll see how that goes.
My Monthly Goals for October 2025

Fall is my favorite time of year, and I want to keep things simple enough that I have time to enjoy it! Here are my goals:
- Write up a post about the outfit I helped L sew for Halloween last year. I have all of the photos, and it really turned out great.
- Help A sew her Halloween costume for this year. We have a plan and fabric, but need to draft a pattern.
- Start piecing together my applique quilt top.
- Stay mindful as I juggle different obligations. I’m dropping from three classes to two for the next term, because three has been a lot.
- Enjoy a visit from my college kid E, as well as visits from my niece and nephew. I might even see my sister and her family, if we are lucky.
- Enjoy fall, especially with lots of walks.

That final block looks lovely, and I love your blanket stitch.
I hear you on things just feeling hectic. I don’t know exactly what happened last month, but it felt busy. So, I’m sitting here on October 13 finally reading your post.
It really is fun to look back at the old posts and see how things have changed and compare it to now.
