Another month gone, and February always flies by!

January was busy. I got asked to teach a couple of French classes, and I decided to say yes mainly because my 14-year-old really wanted me to. It’s fun to be back in a classroom, but I added about 20 hours of work to each week. I learned to speak French as a kid living in France, and speaking it again regularly is messing with my English more than I would have expected, although probably only in ways that I notice.
I also added more hours to a consulting job I often do, and I picked up a couple of writing gigs. It was a busy work month.
Knowing that my life was about to get super busy, I stuck with simple January goals. I got a little crafting done, but not as much as I would like. Same with music. I did make it to my photography conference, where I learned a lot and learned even more about things I don’t know and want to learn more about. I also met some fantastic and kind photographers.
I published a couple of blog posts – this one about hand stitched fiber art and my list of books read in 2023. I have a few others in the works that will hopefully be published in February (and dozens that are planned but not written).
Monthly Goals for February 2024
February is a short month, and I’m running behind even getting this post out! So it’s another month of simple goals:
- Celebrate my oldest child’s 18th birthday. I can’t believe I’m about to become the parent to an adult, but she is ready!
- Keep crafting and playing music, as time allows
- Visit a friend – all on my own! Mike is taking the kids to see his mom, and I decided to make time to visit one of my closest friends who often comes up to see me. I haven’t made it out to visit her before because it’s complicated with four kids, but this is my chance. I’m really excited to see her and spend a couple of days in her world.

Wow, your January sounds very busy. I can’t believe that E is turning 18! Where did the time go??? Enjoy the trip to your friend!
It is weird to have adult children for sure. But it is also cool to see them launch into the world.
January really was insane, and it’s amazing that we’re already almost a week into February.
Yes – weird and very cool! Last year flew by for me, and I have a feeling this one will too.
