Quick note: I’m still in California. I just miss winter, so you get snowy photos this month. And yes, I realize it is easy to miss the snow when one lives in California. Nostalgia makes it easy to ignore the more problematic aspects of snow, like freezing temperatures, icy roads, and power outages…

Did I Achieve My November Goals?

I did all right with November goals! My kids did a lot of the Thanksgiving cooking, which I love. We stayed in town for Thanksgiving, so there wasn’t any Thanksgiving travel for me to deal with, although it did take my college freshman longer than usual to drive back to school down south. My 12-year-old even cleaned the garage, which was amazing.

Goal #1: Daily Walks With My Dog

I really enjoyed the cooler temperatures in November, and my dog and I both benefited from long daily walks.

Goal #2: Crafting and Music

I actually finally recorded a bunch of songs this month. This is just recording into Garage Band on my iPad, and I don’t really know how to use Garage Band. But it’s progress.

For crafting, I worked exclusively on embroidery and hand sewing projects in November. I’m ready to pull my sewing machine back out for December, although I will continue the hand sewing projects as well.

Goal #3: Blogging

I got some blogging done. There is always more that I want to get done than actually gets done, but progress was made. I finally posted the snowman ghost hand puppet craft that was originally inspired by my ghost hand puppet – it had been on my to-do list for possibly a decade! So far, that’s the blogging backlog record, and I really hope it stays that way. It’s a super cute craft, and I’m glad I got it up.

My infinitely-better-at-the-outdoors than myself big brother wrote a great post for me on introducing kids to backpacking. Definitely check it out – it’s even non-outdoorsy-parent friendly.

Beyond that, I updated and republished old posts. I hoped to write more posts, but I guess I have December for that!

Goal #4: New Job

I am enjoying the new job. It’s interesting research that uses my dusty graduate degree in medicine as well as my education background.

Goal #5: Family Time

Okay, this one was easy because I adore my family. But I find that it’s good to prioritize things I love, maybe even especially things I love that are fun.

My Monthly Goals for December 2024

I have a few (hopefully realistic) goals for December:

  • Make a couple of handmade presents that I actually started a year (or more?) ago and never finished.
  • Enjoy family time.
  • Celebrate Christmas. I love Christmas – the music, the lights, the tree, and even cheesy Christmas movies (let me know if there is one of those that you especially recommend?)
  • Declutter as much as I can before Christmas actually arrives. I try to do this every year, and it does help.

What are you hoping to accomplish this month?

Merry Christmas! I hope you enjoyed all the activities leading up to it and enjoying having your entire family at home!

  2. I’ve been enjoying seeing your craft projects as you’ve posted them on Instagram. I’ve missed your handwork though, I might need to go check and see if you’ve posted it there to see how it’s gone.
Yay to not traveling for Thanksgiving!
