Setting Goals for February 2020

Setting attainable goals every month helps me focus on the things in my life that matter the most. I don’t accomplish every single goal every single month, but I do get more done when I set goals like this! Here are my goals for February 2020. You might also enjoy reading about my 2020 word of the year.

Looking Back on January 2020

I knew this year would fly by, and I was right. Our trip to Boston over winter break feels like a lifetime ago, but I also feel like I blinked and January turned into February.

I did manage to accomplish most of my January goals. I skipped out on the Beethoven’s 5th arrangement, since I found other songs my students liked just as well. I finished Emma and Anna’s weighted blankets, so all four kids have weighted blankets now. They liked their so much that Mike wanted one. These days it’s about as cheap to buy one as to make one. I was swamped with work, we were out of poly pellets, and Mike doesn’t care about fabric, so I just bought him this one. I like the ones I make better, but the store bought ones are nice in their own way – especially the time saving way.

I got a lot of decluttering done, although there remains (always) more to do. Room organization did not happen, and that’s going on the February list.

I did write up a list of books read in 2019. I’ll make a similar list in 2020, so if you have book recommendations, please do share in the comments!

Setting My Monthly Goals for February 2020

February is a short month, and even with one extra day this Leap Year, I know it will slip through my fingers like sand on the beach. Still, I’m hoping to:

  • Organize my room! Focus: gratitude and mindful living.
  • Enjoy a Valentine’s Day themed concert with Mike. Focus: gratitude and mindful living.
  • Organize the ukulele unit I’m starting with a new group of sixth graders in March. Focus: education.
  • Edit at least ten days’ worth of old photos. Focus: mindful living.
  • Celebrate Emma’s 14th birthday! Focus: gratitude.

I’m stopping there with goals. I have a middle school music concert to pull off, a singing thing I’m doing with my daughter Emma, and guitar and songwriting classes I’m working on. And of course, this blog, freelance projects, and a house to run. Mike is taking the kids on the second dad plus kids Disneyland trip, and so I’ll have a few quiet days to file taxes, organize my room, and generally catch up on life.

  1. I’m relieved I’m not the only one who struggles with organizing photos! I didn’t make my January goal in that area, but I’m hoping to get caught up in February.
