How Was August?

What You'll Find on This Page

August flew by. The three younger kids and I loved every moment of our cruise to Alaska, and I highly recommend taking one if you’ve ever thought of making the trip and are able to make it happen. I will hopefully make time to write more about this trip sometime this month.

I dropped E off at college. She wanted me to not cry around her, and I almost managed to keep that promise. She is enjoying school so far, and came home to visit this weekend – benefits of staying in state for school.

My three younger kids settled in nicely for the new school year. My 16yo is starting to think about college applications – it will be fun to see where he ends up.

I played some music, although less than I would have liked. I got another square of the hand applique quilt I’m working on finished. I’ve enjoyed this return to hand sewing.

Blogging happened a LOT less than I would have liked. Which is why I’m re-strategizing that goal a little bit for September.

Monthly Goals for September 2024

Here are my goals for September:

  • Spend lots of quality time with my kids. This will be even easier than usual, because I’m solo parenting for the next three weeks while Mike is in Germany and India.
  • Play some music.
  • Craft
  • Blog at least a little every day Monday through Friday. That is, work on a blog post at least some – even for five minutes – each of those days. I’m hoping this approach will make me more productive!

  1. I’ve been laughing because I have all these people who suddenly think I’m going to have so much time, but they really underestimate how much I’m able to stuff into my day with ideas of so many things I want to do. So I sympathize with your desire to figure out how to add time in to blog again.

Dropping kids off at college is a weird thing. Oddly I wasn’t super emotional dropping off the kids at college in the same way I was dropping off the kid for the army, I think partially because I could still communicate with them. It’s an interesting thing to contemplate.
