My kids love robots. I’m sure part of it comes from their dad working in Artificial Intelligence. The rest is probably simple kid curiosity. Or, maybe it started when I built them this robot using the Makedo kit I bought after reading a review of their product at ikat bag.
Here are three other favorite robot constructions:
Johnny made these cute little robots out of the texture dominoes we gave him for his third birthday. He never uses them as dominoes, but loves them as a construction toy!
There’s something about cardboard that makes my kids think about robots. Here are few drawn by Johnny,
And some drawn by Emma. I would love for one of my kids to design a real robot, someday! Maybe it could clean the house for me? =)

Looks awesome! He’ll love to play with it in the future!
Missing you over at High paw. ;) Swing by from time to time. We love to see what you are working on! :)
I’ve eyed that makedo set for awhile, but I keep wondering if it’s not something you could just put together from things you already have. What do you think? Is it worth buying? I know Ikat Bag is the absolute expert on playing with cardboard, and I did notice that she had bought them!
The safe saw is truly safe, and the hinges are cool. You could achieve a similar effect to the blue connectors using metal brackets – except it’s hard to find brackets with large enough heads that they won’t go through the hole you bore in the cardboard…
I wouldn’t necessarily call it a definitely-buy item, and my kids are still too young to get full use out of it. But if you have the money to spend on a $10 set and enjoy building with cardboard, it’s pretty neat!
Cute! I think my crew would like this project.
Robots rock! A robot that cleans would be out of this world….literally! :)
… or maybe they will become famous artists and draw you some :) I love their robots.
They’re well on their way with the artist bit, at least ;)
Cool robots! If your kids design a housecleaning one, I’ll buy it!
Sign me up for one of those cleaning robots!! :) Very fun, and I LOVE the one you made!!!
Thanks! I wouldn’t mind a cooking robot, either…
I want a house cleaning robot too!
I’ve thought about getting those Makedo kits also.
They are pretty cool. The safe saw is especially nice if you have creative kids who like to make things all by themselves. The first kit we got the pieces kept snapping. I contacted Makedo and apparently one round of construction was faulty. They sent us a new kit.
Robots are fun to make because there are so many possibilities!
Yes! I’m sure that is a lot of the appeal.
