Review and Giveaway: Prima Princessa

This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations, Thrifty and Chic Mom!

ballerina Emma

Emma recently added ballerina to her ever-growing list of career aspirations, so I was thrilled when Prima Princessa sent me a copy of Prima Princessa presents Swan Lake to review. The DVD is a hit, as evidenced by Emma showing off her new ballet moves throughout the day! Both Emma and Johnny have watched and danced to this DVD several times, and Johnny was actually the first of the kids to show an interest in it. I think the DVD is a great way to introduce kids to ballet as an art form. They get to see clips from a professional production, and talented young dancers demonstrate a few ballet moves. The DVD is not set up as a class, and the little girls run around without making any serious attempts at ballet moves. The format reminds me of Baby Einstein DVDs, complete with clips of animals and spinning toys.

This is definitely a DVD I would consider as a gift to a little girl who is interested in dance – it’s fun, educational, and it gets my kids up and dancing around. It’s a great introduction to ballet, and the website includes a free teacher’s guide and coloring pages.

  1. I have two aspiring ballerinas. My six yr old has been taking lessons for 3 yr; my 4 yr old has been taking lessons for 1 – but she is the dominant choreographer in our family. They’d love more access to dance. Thanks.

  2. My 4 1/2 year old has been asking about ballet, perhaps she would be satisfied with this DVD.

Emma is adorable! If I win, I’d have it sent to a ballerina-princess niece. :)

What a fun video! I follow your blog (doesn’t everyone?), and I can tell you Emily would adore this! What little girl wouldn’t want to do ballet in the living room? So much fun!

  5. Abby started ballet lessons this year and just loves it! I know she’d love a little extra ballet at home :-)

  6. I was such a girly girl growing up and I do not want my little girl follow her big brothers’ examples and become too much of a tom boy. So is into dance right now and I want to encourage that. I’d love to have this DVD for her!

  7. Me me me!!!!! My daughters love all things princess and ballerina. Jessica, in particular, has shown an instinct for dance, and has recently asked if we can watch Peter and the Wolf again. (We attempted to see a Ballet Austin production.)

This year, we’ll definitely be going to the Nutcracker, and a behind-the-scenes look would help alleviate Melody’s worry about new experiences.
