Red Rock

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area

Las Vegas is famous for its hotel strip, but it should be best known for the amazing Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, which can be seen from pretty much any Vegas hotel. Mike’s family has been hiking here for years, and this trip Johnny and Lily especially got into climbing the famous red rocks.

We saw lots of lizards like this guy. I need to learn how to get the focus right on lizards!

Lily and Johnny both thought we should be pursuing a much more challenging path, although all three kids wound up getting carried at the end! Thank goodness Gramma came with us!

  1. It’s been a few years since we’ve been there. The last time we had the kids with us, so we did an easy flat trail that went past some rock paintings. I much prefer that to the strip…

  2. Huh, I remember going to a Red Rocks park in Colorado as a kid. It was like an hour drive from Denver.

So, I was confused by your post, and then realized as I was thinking about it, a lot of the rocks in that area are red, so there’s probably several red rock parks……

    1. Jennifer from Toy Box Years also mentioned Red Rocks in Colorado – the one near here is called “Garden of the Gods”.

    What a great family adventure!

I love how eager Lily is in the picture. And those hats look super shady. Yea!
