For whatever reason, there are tons of dress-up options for little girls and hardly any for little boys. Johnny loves to dress up, and he has a green dress that technically belongs to Emma that he calls his “prince shirt”. He doesn’t have much practice wearing dresses, though, and he gets a little frustrated with how long his “shirt” is.
So when he asked for prince pants last week, I did my best to oblige. I wasn’t sure what he had in mind, but this castle fabric (which I won in a giveaway on this blog) made for a royal theme.
I used a pair of his shorts as a pattern, and he is thrilled with the result – even if I did cut them a little short. He’s been wearing them every time they’re clean.
Oh, and if you’re wondering, he’s a “prince robot” in that top picture. Apparently, if you put these bins (normally used to hold building blocks) on your head or sit in them, you become a robot. Using these bins as robot outfits is so popular lately that I’ve bagged up the blocks that actually go in the bins and put them away temporarily in the garage, since the bins were being routinely emptied to make way for robot play.

perfect fabric for prince pants – what fun!
We are trying to overcome this problem at preschool – loads of girls dress ups but slim pickings for the boys. Maybe we just need to be a bit more creative like you :)

My nephew is always sad when going through our dress ups as there is definitely nothing in there for boys, how nice for your boy that you could make him something :)
One of my favorite thing about two-year-olds is that you can make something simple like this, and their imagination takes flight =)
Johnny is an awesome Prince Robot :) and so are his Prince Pants!! You’ve done it again :)

How fun! When I went shopping for clothes for my nephew, I was saddened by the lack of choices, compared to girls’ clothes.
So, my girls want a princess party when they turn five. Any ideas on including they male friends?
