I made these sleeping bags for the owie dolls instead of sewing clothing last week. They are very simplified versions of the ikat bag pattern. I used the pattern piece, but eliminated the zipper and made them out of fleece and left out the quilt batting. My solution for skipping the zipper was to sew them halfway shut, and then leave them open.
Johnny and Emma love to take their dolls to bed in their sleeping bags. In this picture you can see where I stopped sewing the bag together and the red lining starts to peak out.
Emma and Johnny use the button closure (intended to keep the sleeping bag rolled up when not in use) to turn the sleeping bags into wearable footed togas.
Which makes the dolls super cuddly for toting around all day long!

love the idea! Do you make those dolls yourself? I will be making baby size raggedy dolls for my baby massage training and for sale. I will share how they turned out!
Yes, I did make them – using a pattern I bought from ikatbag.com. If you are looking for a pattern, I highly recommend hers – here is the post about them: http://www.ikatbag.com/2009/11/owie-dolls_25.html
They are soooo cute! Emily has been begging me to make a sleeping bag for her teddy bear. I’ve bookmarked your post for inspiration! :-)

So cute! (I’m always looking for ways to eliminate zippers too!)
What a neat idea – I wish I was brave enough (and had time) to try and sew anything for Anna’s dolls. Maybe one day…

What a great project! And I love the footed togas innovation. Turns out you sewed some clothing despite yourself! :)
The pictures of Johnny and Emma with their dolls just melt my heart. Gorgeous!

Oh, how cute! My son has a Woody doll with a sleeping bag that he loves, this would be so fun to make for other dolls around here. :)

Those turned out super cute! Maybe I should make some sleeping bags for my kids dolls.
