Happy New Year! 2022 feels like forever ago to me, but 2023 flew by.

I used my Word of the Year Generator to choose a new word of the year. The first word that came up was BEGIN.

I’m going with that. There are a few things that might begin for me in 2024, but none of them are set in stone. If those things don’t come through, I’m sure there will be others.

How did December Go?

What You'll Find on This Page

People were sick a lot in my house in December, although I thankfully stayed pretty healthy. I was glad, though, that I’d kept December goals simple.

I have a side photography business that is always super busy in December, and this year was exceptionally busy. That was actually nice, since I missed out on the holiday season when we were in Oxford last year.

We celebrated my son’s 16th birthday with a quiet family party – his request. I love that he still enjoys celebrating with family. He and his friends are pretty low key birthday people.

I got some crafting done, and we enjoyed Christmas and New Years as a family. This year we played Twister Ultimate, and Telestrations with the more intense Avalon thrown into the mix. Of the three games, Telestrations is my personal favorite.

I took my youngest daughter to see The Nutcracker. I also took her to get her first pointe shoes – a ballet milestone that is both exciting to her and a bit terrifying to me. I like and trust the studio she trains at, though.

Monthly Goals for January 2024

January might have some big changes, but I’m not sure yet which ones will happen. They are all opportunities, but they might not all pan out and there are ups and downs to all of them. So that’s all I can say, for now. Here are my goals for January:

  • Settle into a routine for 2024 – once I know what that routine is going to look like!
  • Craft
  • Play music
  • Go to a photography conference

I’ll stop there, because my life has a lot of uncertainty in it at the moment.

  1. Happy New Year! Can’t wait to hear about your plans for 2024 – you sound pretty mysterious :) I tried your Word Generator and got Virtue, so I am still scratching my head over this one :)

  2. I hope you get to go to the photography conference, it never occurred to me that might exist as a conference, which is funny because I know of ones for almost every other hobby.

I think almost everyone had some amount of sickness at Christmas this year, or that’s what I’m hearing from people right now.
