Learning Laboratory: Useful Waste

Cleaning the floor with baby wipes

While we were in Utah, my kids took it upon themselves to empty half of my container of baby wipes onto the floor. In less than a minute, no less. Mischief happens so quickly!

I thought they might as well put their waste to use, and hopefully learn a lesson at the same time, so I set them the task of wiping my Grandma’s floor with the wipes. People had been in and out of the kitchen all day long, so there was plenty to clean.

They did a good job, and haven’t played with the wipes container since.

  1. Maybe I should try that! Leila loves emptying the wipes out of the container, but I usually just put them back in (all crumpled up). :)

    1. I’ve done that before, but this time they were pulling them off, washing a hand/foot/leg/face, and then dropping them on the floor, so I didn’t feel like putting them back was an option!

  2. Nice recovery from the spillage! Great picture too – they all seem very happy with their task.

This is great! I love how they learned so quickly that the wipes container is not a toy.

We learned tonight that the kids get ready for bed much more quickly if we tell them they can have a raspberry on their tummy as soon as they have their nightshirt on. :)
