Are you looking for a fun way to celebrate the Olympics with your kids? Check out these Olympic wreath style leaf crowns! They are easy to make, and I have a solution if you don’t just happen to have the perfect vines growing in your back yard.
Mike fashioned crowns for all three kids out of a climbing vine that was trying to take over our gutter pipe. This simple DIY nature craft was easy to make and inspired all sorts of fun pretend play for the kids! Since these crowns look like Olympic wreaths they also make a great Olympics-themed craft!
How to Make an Olympic Wreath Leaf Crown – Fun Olympics Craft for Kids
We happened to have a hanging vine growing in our yard that we knew would not cause any skin issues for our kids, but you can also buy artificial vines. Wrap around the crown of your child’s head a couple of times, and twist to keep in place. The leaves keep the Olympic wreat / leaf crown from unravelling.
Emma especially enjoyed pretending to be a tiny fairy running and dancing around our yard.
She is now campaigning for me to purchase some pretend ivy to turn into indoor leaf crowns / Olympic wreaths.
Do you have a fun Olympics themed craft that my kids would enjoy?

This is so cute. I submitted it as a “favorite pin” to the M&D eNewsletter. I hope they share it. Love it. Just love it.
Thank you, Zina!!!
You should just get Emma to help you cut out felt leaves and sew them to a piece of elastic… I’m sure she would make a beautiful fall fairy princess!

Sounds like Mike has been doing some yard work in his time off:-)! We need some of that around here–TLC for our yard! I have always wanted to make some sort of crown like this. These turned out great. I love the picture of Emma–so sweet and fun!! All three kids look adorable with their crowns.
I hope y’all have been enjoying your time together this week.

Great idea, and very nicely executed! Emma looks lovely dancing with her fairy crown, and Johnny looks ready to be the dashing hero in some Robin Hood adventure. :)
We have vines running everywhere (except where I want them to go), so I will definitely keep this idea in mind next time I prune!

I was going to say “there’s Emma in her unseasonable clothes again” but I realized it has been in the 70s here, so that may not be true!! Looks like fun, she has a perfect fairy dance.

@Amber – Your first guess was right, she’s still insisting on summer clothes, wherever remotely possible!
