Johnny spied me looking at this ikat bag post, and just had to make some peg dolls of his own. Lily thought she should too. I had two peg dolls sitting in the craft closet for just such an emergency, so I pulled those out and they got to work. Lily was beyond thrilled to use a Sharpie for the first time ever.
Can you see the face Johnny drew on his? They each decorated their dolls in their favorite color – pink for Lily and green for Johnny.
Don’t you love Lily’s excitement over her completed doll?! That’s pizza on her hands and face – apparently I forgot to clean her up from dinner before handing over the Sharpie pen.
We cobbled together a couple of houses for the peg dolls using cardboard boxes. The band-aid on Johnny’s chin is just from a bump; he’s in that “band-aids are magical” phase.
We only had two peg dolls available, but Emma was okay with that. She has decorated peg dolls before (see here and here), and she was content to paint this bird feeder she received as a birthday gift from a friend.
She was also kind enough to use her leftover paints to decorate Johnny’s peg doll house for him. Emma’s paint job reminds me of the Hundertwasserhaus in Vienna!

Love it!
I am such a crafter! And nooo time to do it as often as you.
Due to the economy, i have actually recently made laundry machine from cardboard boxes and a gas pump found at http://familyfun..com
I also made this garage for my 6yr old son, but few days later my 2yr old sat on it..oh well…at least we can make another one!

You are a great inspiration to all of us busy mom’s for spending more time with their children. Thank you so much for this blog! You are pushing me to create and explore with them more!!
That looks like a very fun craft! My kids still think band-aids are magical.
Maryanne,
very cute and simple craft to engage the kids, thanks for sharing!
We read a book and did a related craft this week, check it out here:

I LOVE that peg doll house! Lily’s as cute as ever, and happy as always.
Very cute! At first I thought it was Sharpie on her face, so it’s a good thing it was just pizza. LOL!
What a great idea! I know my girls would LOVE this project!
Fun fun fun! Glad it was pizza on Lily’s face and not the sharpie! Sometimes even the washable ones are hard to get off.
Oh, these dolls and the houses are awesome. Great pictures of engaged kids too!
Love love love! From the glorious excitement on Lily’s face to Johnny’s total absorption and Emma’s expressionist style, you’ve got a whole crew of gifted artists on your hands. :)
We just made some yesterday too, how funny.
Gotta love a well stocked craft cupboard- it can certainly save the day so to speak!
Such gorgeous photos of each of your children making their special creations.
