Emma spent yesterday morning writing “birthday party invitations” on this small notepad. She’s really into notepads and notebooks lately – she uses them to write letters, play school… I like to offer her materials and then wait and see what she does with them.
This is also a great way to use junk mail – this particular pad of paper was sent to me; I have no idea what made them think I’m really into cars…

My son went through a period where he wanted to eat the tips off of Crayola felt tip markers – it was such a relief when he outgrew that phase!
My 4-year old writes (using the word “writes” very loosely here) letters and illustrates them, for grandparents. My 2-year old colors the entire sheet if I forghet to take the pen away. My 11-month old eats the pen!

My 15 month old is just barely a toddler, but I think it’s really funny that anytime we “draw,” he takes a crayon, touches it to paper for a second or two, creating a line or squiggle and then does the sign language for “bird.” Apparently he’s working on a series of them!
