Today I’m joining up with some other kid bloggers in support of the American Heart Association and it’s Go Red for Women awareness campaign. Did you know that heart disease is the single largest health threat for women? To keep this on your mind, here are some of our favorite heart activities which, happily, double as wonderful Valentine’s Day activities for kids! Clicking on the picture will take you to the post where I wrote about each craft!
Make a heart friend from paper
Let your child sew their own red heart.
Create a simple, meaningful gift for someone you love!
Make a card listing the things you love about dad (or mom, grandma, grandpa, etc.)
Plan a week of Valentines to celebrate a loved one.
Make unique Valentines for all your friends!

Seeing all these beautiful crafts reminded me how long we’ve been blog friends :) I am sure your kids are hard at work on new creations for this year.
I have really enjoyed reading your blog for all these years!
Ha, it is such a great collection of Valentine craft. Thanks for all the wonderful ideas! – and for a good cause.
I am so excited for Valentines Day!
I absolutely love it!!!
It’s my all time favorite!!!
I love seeing the ideas you come up with for Valentine’s Day!
Those are so cute!
Thanks, Jenny!
What a great idea to combine heart health with Valentines Day – these crafts are so cute. I think my favorite is the sign language card.
Thank you! I love that one, too. :)
Oh my goodness – those heart friends and the woven hearts are adorable. It is all wonderful, but those two really stuck out. I absolutely love it. Wish I had time to participate in this. It is so great.
Those woven hearts always look so impressive to me. Probably because I have no clue how they’re made……..
They are super simple to make, actually. Here is a nice video tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vYtHqja6oQ. Although, I do it differently from her. Instead of four pieces, I make two on the fold (the flat edge of her template is the fold). Maybe I should make my own tutorial…
Also, I recently learned from Erica at http://www.whatdowedoallday.com/ that these were originally intended as Christmas decorations!
Love the “I love you” sign language cards.
Thanks! I think it makes a really cute card :)
What a great cause and what lovely crafts you have for Valentine’s Day!
Thank you!
Cute, simple ideas. I should get started now so I am not scrambling when Valentines day is here.
I always scramble. Especially since Emma’s birthday is one week later – so I have two big things going on in February!
