Looking Back on January 2021
What You'll Find on This Page
Going back to teaching was a big focus on my January goals for 2021. One month in, I’m surviving. But I’ll be honest: it’s a lot to juggle. Swimming, staying organized, and crafting every day have all helped with sanity. Note that I try to swim, craft, and stay organized. Sometimes it happens; sometimes it doesn’t. But whenever it does, it helps!
You may have noticed that this blog and my instagram are kind of quiet lately. I’m not abandoning any of them, but with a full time job plus homeschooling plus prioritizing family time, I just don’t post as much as I have in the past. I do have a huge back log of posts I want to write, and I’ll get them out as I manage to make the time. I’m acutely aware of the fact that my children are growing up lightning fast, and so spending time with them is a huge priority. One day they will all be gone, but blogging is something I have the rest of my life to do. But I’ll continue to blog when I do find the time, because it’s an activity that I really enjoy.
For those of you who have been following Mike’s cancer diagnosis, he is doing well. We have at least another month to go before we find out if radiation stopped the tumors or if they are coming back. Either way, his life is not considered in danger, which is fantastic news.
Goals for February 2021
Simple remains the theme for my February goals:
- Celebrate my oldest daughter’s birthday! We’re still in full on pandemic mode in California, so we’ll need to get creative. Focus: gratitude
- Maintain what I feel like are “sanity habits” for February: swimming or walking every day, crafting every day, and making time for some sort of music every day. Ideally music in addition to the music I’m teaching for school! Focus: mindfulness and gratitude
- Plan ahead with lessons for school as much as possible. This will hopefully give me more flexibility, and also help with sanity. Focus: education
- Continue to prioritize family time. Focus: gratitude
And that’s it for me for February. It’s strange that life is so busy when we don’t even go anywhere, but somehow it is!

My goal is to get ahead in planning our history lessons. I’d been slacking on getting ahead, and now I’m almost behind. So, that’s my big goal for the month.
Good luck! I look forward to reading about them.
These are excellent February goals! So important to keep things as simple as possible and what I love most is how you prioritise what’s truly important. Great news your husband’s cancer isn’t considered life-threatening, and I’m hoping with you that those tumours are gone for good!
Thank you, Elisa!
