On Christmas Eve is a favorite from my childhood. I love wordless picture books, and Peter Collington’s illustrations are stunning. This magical story is a must-read for children who worry about how Santa will get into their chimney-free home!
Yes, it’s in French and this blog has an overwhelmingly English-speaking readership, but I couldn’t resist sharing L’ami du petit tyrannosaure (The Friend of the Little Tyrannosaurus). I adore this book, and so do my kids. A small tyrannosaurus keeps losing friends because he gets hungry and eats them. Will he ever have a friend? He will, thanks to a mouse who teaches him some important lessons in self-control and how to prevent actions you will later regret!
Is Your Mama a Llama is a favorite that I remember reading to my younger siblings. We borrowed it from the library this week, and my kids love it too! The illustrations of different mothers and babies are absolutely charming. The text rhymes beautifully. The meter feels very slightly stilted, but that may just be me. It’s well worth reading!
I’ve been reading about Llama Llama Red Pajama on blogs for ages, and we finally borrowed one of the books. My kids think this book is hilarious, although they do not appear to notice how closely it follows our own household bedtime dramas (although, bedtime has improved greatly since the arrival of our SleepBuddy light)! I love the baby llama’s expressions!

E loves the Llama Llama books but I have to admit I don’t really see the big deal. They just never were a hit with me.
My son’s favorite right now is Llama Llama Misses Mama because it’s about the llama’s mommy dropping him off at school and how sad he is when she leaves, but then he makes friends and has fun. He can relate to it, I suppose.
We love wordless picture books and this book sounds stunning. I can’t help myself when it comes to a gorgeous Christmas book. I am going to see if I can find it to add to our Christmas book collection.
I love the sound of the first book! We were big Llama fans, and Anna still retreads it sometimes.
I’ll have to look up that last one. It sounds cute!
You’ll love it!
We LOVE Is Your Mama A Llama! Such a cute book. One of the things I want to do in the next couple of days is put out a basket of Christmas books. I’ll have to check out On Christmas Eve.
On Christmas Eve looks lovely! I hope I can find it.
Oh, I feel so badly for the poor misguided tyrannosaurus! I’m glad that mouse helped him out. :)
What wonderful books! The llama series is really great!
