Fabric Scraps (mixed media explorations)

fabric scrap masterpieces

Remember Emma’s coat? I made the entire thing while Mike was at work, thanks in no small part to the magic of fabric scraps. The kids added some tape and pens…

And wrote their names! Nothing like the magic of a new artistic medium to keep small hands and minds occupied!

Of course, the other magic ingredient was Lily’s naptime. Which has been vanishing at an alarming rate…

  1. I cannot believe you made the entire coat in one sitting!! You are more amazing with each post:-).

Sigh…Jesse’s naps get shorter each week too. He usually–if I’m super lucky–takes one awesome nap and then will at least stay in his crib for a second afternoon rest time. If I’m extra super lucky he will even fall asleep during this rest time. Mary Anne, he is into EVERYTHING and I cannot do anything while he’s awake. I know when he does go to only one short nap per day–and I feel it coming–I will have to make him stay in a playpen to get morning school done.

Good luck to you with Lily’s vanishing nap! I’ll be thinking of you!!

  2. J-jo’s naps are still pretty good. Mostly still get two out of him, but Bear’s naps are a completely different story. And if they could just nap at the same time, that would be heavenly!

  3. Well, we trained Anna to play in her room for 2 hours every day, so we can get a nap :) Playing with felt scraps is pretty popular here too, but usually they get shredded into a salad.

  4. I came across your site through the teaching/homeschool section of Picketfence and thought I would share a creative writing site for kids (and adults) that I have just set up – come and see the “I Wonder Chronicles for literacy and creativity” – use the prompts and add to the wonder!

  5. My kids love playing with fabric scraps too. And our naps are vanishing at an alarming rate too. Actually they’re pretty much gone.
