Emma, Johnny, and Lily Quotes: No Babies in Kindergarten

three kids in a box

Johnny, pointing at the closet where we store puzzles and games:
Mama, Mama! I want to play the messy game! I want to play the messy game!
He meant Monopoly.

Emma, talking about the toy people they play with in Kindergarten:
The people are very tiny, like this (shows about an inch) tall. Like a choking hazard! It’s a good thing there aren’t any babies in our class!

All three kids, playing together:
Johnny: You guys, why do we always have to play ballet?
Lily: You want to play something else?
Emma (ignoring Johnny): These are little plies.
Johnny: I want a baby brother.

Mike, quizzing the kids after dinner:
Mike/Dada: Which planet has a ring around it?
Emma: Saturn!
Johnny: Jesus and Joseph!
Mike: What?!
Johnny: Jesus and Joseph often have something like that (referencing the halos he saw depicted in a book of paintings).

  1. Too funny! I love how quotes capture a glimpse of how their minds work. Like the rings = halos, and needing a baby brother. :)

  2. The ballet one cracks me up! I can only imagine. It was just me and my brother but I was quite bossy and always made him play “girl” games. He loved it. :)

  3. Lol, your kids are funny! Have you seen the new monopoly game that uses a credit card and an electronic device to keep the balances. It looks like monopoly is going cashless and won’t be the messy game anymore… you might want to keep yours. It could become valuable ;)
