MATERIALS:
- tape
- yarn
- three or four colored straws
STEPS
- Cut straws into inch-long pieces
- Cut yarn for necklace
- Tape one end of yarn, twisting tape to make an improvised “needle” for easier thredding
- Tie one piece of straw to the other end of the yarn (to keep pieces from falling off)
- Have toddler thread on pieces of straw

Another fun and easy craft I wouldn’t have thought of myself. Wrapping tape around the yarn is a great tip!
I remember making these when I was 4 and 5. Maybe even older. I used to cut the straw into really little pieces and loved to make necklaces from them. I think Becca still has one I made for her!
We did this recently with dyed pasta, but this is a much easier (and less messy) idea that I think my daughter would love.
Hey Mary Anne – what a brilliant blog! I love this idea… now to work on the kids part! I’ll have to borrow some or wait a few years! Kxxx
Thanks :)
