I always find myself taking stock of my children’s clothing towards the end of summer. They seem to go on growth spurts during these months of free play. Suddenly that last-day-of-school shirt doesn’t fit at all, and the last-day-of-school jeans are looking more like capris. With three girls who wear hand-me-downs and a boy who puts a lot of wear and tear on clothing, I have learned that it is worth investing in quality brands. Kohl’s is one of my favorite stores to shop in, and I was thrilled when they offered me a gift card to explore their Carter’s back to school line!
Finding Adorable and Affordable Quality Back to School Clothes
What You'll Find on This Page
Six-year-old Lily and three-year-old Anna LOVED shopping the Carter’s line! This year they have a lot of adorable top plus leggings combos. Lily and Anna both appreciate girly clothes, and I love that they chose matching outfits. They were thrilled these outfits, and wear them whenever they are clean! I am impressed by the attention to detail, from button-up sleeves to embroidery to the careful pairing of lovely breathable tops with comfy leggings.
Clothes Designed for Play
My girls love clothes that are cute. Carter’s understands this, but they also understand that kids need to play! I love that these outfits allow my girls to feel like they are dressed up and unquestionably girly. I love even more that these are clothes that encourage my girls to run and jump and play!
Affordable Clothes for Back to School
Carter’s clothing can be a bit of an investment. Kohl’s makes this investment much more affordable, thanks to frequent sales and coupons that can be stacked on top of sales. The two brands together form a dream back to school shopping team!

Love the matching outfits! My kids have to wear uniforms everyday that you have to purchase from their school’s uniform shop. The nice thing is that they have a one for one trade on second hand uniforms. Joshua outgrew his pants in 6 months, so I’m incredibly grateful that I was able to trade them in for the next size up!
I like the trading up program! That would help keep the cost of the clothing down.
I love that they have matching outfits!
Sadly my kids seem to of outgrown not only most of their clothes in the last few months, but all of the super cute kids clothes stores, though Princess might still fit them…
So darling! I love that they’re practical for play and also a bit dressy for girls who like to look fancy (like mine does). So adorable that they match!
What adorable clothes, I love the leggings and top combo. Dressing kids can be so expensive can’t it?
We always loved Carter clothes, but now A is kind of growing out of their styles. Luckily, my Mom took her out shopping, so most of her early fall wardrobe is done. We still need some long sleeves, since A is finally growing out of size 7-8.
These matching outfits are too adorable! I look for quality clothing that will last and that can be handed down from one child to another.
Those are terribly cute outfits :)
So cute!!! I love Carter’s for my long thin babies, and it’s great to see they have lovely comfy clothes for older kids, too.
I love the tunic and leggings look! I’ll have to go check out Kohl’s this year.
They have several different tunic and leggings sets – I definitely recommend a look!
They look fantastic – practical as well as girly.
That’s what I love most! These two always want to look girly, and finding a practical solution can be tough. These outfits walk that line perfectly.
