Do you use cloth diapers? You can easily make your own cloth baby wipes by following this simple sewing tutorial for DIY cloth baby wipes!

How to Make Your Own Cloth Baby Wipes – Sewing Tutorial

MATERIALS:

STEPS:

1) Tear flannel into baby wipe-size pieces

2) Serge or zig zag edges

It really is as simple as that! Serging is easiest, and fastest, but if you don’t have a serger zig zagging the edges will work just fine. If you want to get fancy you can hem the edges, the way I do for my cloth napkins.

I’m also using these as inserts for Lily’s tiny newborn diapers. I’ve made one more cover and plan to make a few more. There are various baby wipe solution recipes on the internet, but I use plain water most of the time and my kids never get diaper rash. If I feel like I need something a little stronger, I use California Baby Diaper Area Wash.

The adjustment to three kids is going well, although both Emma and Johnny are sick again this weekend and that makes things a little tougher. I’ve been thoroughly spoilt with Grandma doing all the cooking and taking Emma and Johnny out on long walks in their double stroller. Lily is doing beautifully, only waking twice a night to eat – absolutely wonderful since she is gaining weight just fine.

  1. Your cloth diapering and cloth diaper wipes make me even more impressed and awe-inspired by you!! You are, even more so, my hero. Wish I could get it completely together to go completely cloth!!

  2. Oh, I have some of these I must have gotten from you! :-) I enjoy the “you may also like:” thing on your blog.

  3. I made a few cloth wipes that had two layers: flannel on one side (cut up receiving blankets) and on the other side I had terry cloth (cut up old towels) for, um, removing solids. They are my favorite and I should really make more. Thanks for sharing!

    1. I have a terrycloth bathrobe I was going to make rags out of anyways! I am totally going to make two-sided wipes from it! Great idea!

  4. Great idea. We used simple baby wash cloths the first time around; I just may try this recipe with old flannel blankets for our coming babe. Thanks again, :-)

  5. I've thought about using cloth wipes as diaper inserts; now I know it's a good idea, since you're doing it! :)

Glad to hear your whole family is being pampered right now. Yea, Grandma!
