The world is an incredible place, and I would love to travel it with my four kids. I know that living outside of the United States helped me develop a deeper appreciation for diversity. Mike’s job isn’t one that is likely to lead to us living in foreign countries, and our budget doesn’t have a lot of room for travel beyond visits to see family. So we read books about the world, live vicariously through my globe-trotting sister and her family, and enjoy the posts from my world culture for kids series. We are also very lucky to live in a part of the country that is home to people from all over the world (Many of our neighbors were born outside the US, and I would say that half – if not more – of my children’s classmates speak a language other than English at home).
Modern technology – both the internet and relatively affordable international travel – have made the world a smaller place. Understanding and appreciating diversity will help our kids make the most of what the world has to offer them! Because I value diversity so much, I was thrilled to hear about the picture book Anna is holding above! Beautiful Rainbow World (affiliate link) is based off of a song written by my bloggy friend Daria. I was offered a review copy of this book, and was more than happy to help promote such a wonderful title. The book features stunning photographs of children from all around the world embracing life. I love that the book focuses on the joy of everyday life – all around the world. The book comes with a free download of the song that inspired it, so you can sing through the book with your child, or let them listen to the song while admiring the photos.
Introduce your child to the wonder of our beautiful rainbow world!
