I love multi-functional toys, and this 3D Cityscape by ALEX Toys that we were sent to review doubles as a play mat is a favorite in our house, inspiring hours of imaginative play!
My kids and I have always loved big floor puzzles, and the 3D buildings add to the fun! I especially like that the different buildings are interchangeable, so you can move them to different spots within the city.
Once the puzzle is put together, it doubles as a fun play mat for the kids! My kids like to add their toy matchbox cars (this particular car apparently took quite a hit to the right side):
The pieces are nice and thick, and they fit together neatly.
The puzzle comes with a sheet showing how to put it together. Three-year-old Lily likes to use this page as an I Spy guide – she will find a detail on the paper and then find its match on the puzzle.
There are a lot of fun details to find, throughout the entire city! I love the colorful illustrations:
What toys are your kids loving right now?
I blog for ALEX Toys, and they frequently send us products to explore – like this one. All opinions are my own.

Very clever puzzle! My son would love it for his cars!
What a beautiful open-ended toy!!
I really like play mats (easy to clean up!) and one that combines Legos seem magical!
So fun! Love anything that inspires the imagination. My kids are loving LEGO right now. It was just my son but now my daughter is hooked!
My kids also adore LEGO bricks.
Oh my goodness – my four year old would love this. Her favorite things are puzzles and building towers out of blocks – this looks like it would combine the two. I love the 3D buildings!
I love the buildings, too – and that they can be moved around on the puzzle!
This looks so awesome. I’d be a little scared that my boys would spend most of the time fighting over it!
It’s big enough that they might be able to share it? ;)
This looks like a very fun playscape! Sadly, daughter is barely playing with her toys unless I radically rotate them. She needs a playmate for toys.
I can see how that would be a common problem for only children. No built-in playmates to keep plots interesting.
I think my kids had a puzzle like that when they were younger, and you’re right it is super fun!
