SeaWorld!

trying to convince my kids that they should pose with this Roseate Spoonbill

Trying to convince my kids that they should pose for a photo

We aren’t in Florida (wouldn’t that be nice?), but we DID have a very miniature SeaWorld visit in Boston on Tuesday! We drove into the Royal Sonesta Hotel, where I was hugely grateful for the complimentary parking! Parking in Boston is always difficult, and a big part of our not going there very often. This year with the snow leading to further parking restrictions it’s been nearly impossible!

Roseate Spoonbill rescue bird (missing the other wing)

We got to meet this very friendly Roseate Spoonbill rescue bird! He’s missing his other wing, but he doesn’t seem to mind that much since it means he gets to spend his life visiting kids!

Baby American alligator

Johnny wasn’t so sure about this American alligator while we were there, but it was all he wanted to talk about come bedtime!

Magellanic penguins

The Magellanic Penguin pair was a real hit! My kids have been into penguins for a while, and seeing a couple in real life only fueled their enthusiasm!

Emma finally did get brave enough to pose with the alligator!

Emma eventually got brave enough to pose with this alligator. See her hands up by her chin? She’s been doing that since she was a newborn! I think she was still feeling a little scared, but she is super proud of this picture! I was a little surprised that she chose to pose with the alligator over the bird!

We finished up the “best day EVER” (to quote Emma) with free lunch at the hotel, and some SeaWorld goodies to bring home! Emma had been having a hard time with Mike being out of town yet again (he returns tonight – hooray!!!), so this outing was especially well-timed. Thanks to Mom Central and SeaWorld for a day my kids will remember for a LONG time!

  1. What a great experience. We finally made it down to San Diego’s SeaWorld last summer, but we didn’t get that up close and personal with an alligator. Actually, that’s no bad thing – I think that Emma might be braver than me…

Oh yes, they will remember that for a LONG time!!! What a fun trip! I know exactly what you mean about parking in Boston — yikes! Sounds like they thought of everything!! :-)

  3. Bless Emma’s heart. It is an adorable picture of her with the alligator. I hope you all have a blast this weekend with Mike being back at home. Hope he stays for a long while this time too!

Lily looks pretty unsure in that first picture, reminds me of Jesse. Mary Anne, you look great!

  4. How fun – it’s great that you could attend such an interesting event. Emma looks so cute with her ponytails. I am not so sure that Anna would want to be anywhere close to real alligators.

  5. Love the stripes on those penguins! And Emma’s hair! She was so brave to pose with the alligator.

How wonderful that the animal handlers brought a little bit of Florida to you! :)

  6. Two Chicks and a Hen

This looks like so much fun. I love the animals, but really, my favorite part is that Emma still has a hand gesture from when she was a newborn :).

  7. Before Sam came into the family, I was taking Cadence to Sea World (we live in Orlando) sometimes weekly during the summer. She wanted to be a dolphin trainer all year when she was four.

The penguins are my favorite, too.

  8. Looks like fun! Isn’t it funny how the thins the kids are afraid of are the ones that they later talk the most about. My daughter Luca is the same way with spiders. Just the way they work through their fears I guess.

  9. I was just wondering, all of your photos seem so professionally done…..what kind of camera do you use?
