Pace: The 12-Minute Fitness Revolution by Al Sears, M.D. is a revolutionary approach to fitness where you can become and stay fit in twelve minutes a day. You aren’t even supposed to work out for twelve uninterrupted minutes – you exercised in short, intense bursts followed by rest. I think it’s a great option for oft-interrupted moms. The book includes a few calisthenics moves, and suggests a wide variety of other ways you can get exercise.

I found the book interesting and worth reading. The central message of the book – that you can become more fit while eating what you like (within a few simple guidelines) and exercising in whatever way you find most enjoyable – is intriguing, and I see this book as a great place to start for anyone struggling with fitness, as well as anyone looking to change their current fitness regime. I would like to see a shorter, more concise version of the book with less of an infomercial tone. I also wish the book didn’t spend so much time criticizing other exercise formats – particularly since the author suggests using his fitness routine alongside marathon training after bashing marathon running earlier in the book.
