In “The Jungle”

2011_11_05_0840

We adore our yard, but one thing it lacks is trees suitable for climbing. Until, of course, most of our gigantic willow tree fell to the ground.

The kids call their new playground “The Jungle”, and they spend hours playing in the parts of it that are safe.

I will be a little sad when we clean it up. The kids will be even sadder.

The enjoyed a snowball fight with the remaining snow, too!

Johnny even managed to get a snowball down Mike’s shirt! He was incredibly proud of himself.

Lily didn’t throw snowballs, but she DID wear her coat and mittens, even if the hat didn’t last. And she’s convinced she can wear crocs all winter…

  1. What a perfect playground. “The Jungle” looks like the perfect setting for many adventures to unfold.

A snowball down daddy’s shirt – that’s a victory! Way to go Johnny.

They need to make a winter croc – that would please so many parents and children alike.

So cute!!! I loved climbing trees when I was a kid — good times! And way to go, Johnny! Good arm! ;-)

  3. Willow trees are one of my favorites. Not sure why they call out to the children. We enjoy them so much when visiting my family up north. Your snow makes me miss home! Glad to see you having so much fun!

  4. What fun! I am sorry that most of your willow tree fell though. I hope the rest of it survives the damage. Cute pictures!

  5. Why is climbing trees so much fun???
    I love it!
We have yet to have a tree suitable for climbing in our backyard too.
We seem to have NO problem borrowing every other climbing tree we see!
    Love the pictures!

  6. What a fun impromptu play time. We lack any trees suitable for climbing, too and my girls always want to know when they’ll be able to climb one!
