Halloween Countdown

Emma and Johnny with their Halloween countdown

Emma and Johnny are really excited about Halloween this year. They made this Halloween countdown chain, complete with fancy edging on the black links. The idea is that they remove on link per day to help them count down the days, but so far they have refused to remove a single link. I’m thinking maybe we should start punching holes in the links instead!

Update 10/2013 You can also write an activity on the links that they can complete each day while they wait! Here are a few ideas to get started:

What favorite Halloween activities do you have that we should add to this list?

Aww, we always did that for Christmas. It was a tradition on the day after Thanksgiving my brother and sister and I would sit and color on strips of paper and make a chain. I loved to take the links off though, maybe they’ll like it better as they get older?

@Elisabeth – I love the idea of using stickers – and Emma and Johnny will take ANY opportunity to play with stickers! Thanks for the suggestion!

And yes, Emma wore long sleeves for one very brief moment… She’s back to her usual minimalist dress, now!

that’s really funny. Our haunted castle was originally supposed to be a halloween advent calendar, but that didn’t work out either. You could have them color on the links or glitter glue them or something as the days go by…
