Every Day On Earth was sent to us to review. It’s the type of book I remember ADORING when I was 9 or 10 years old – lots of interesting random facts! A lot of it was over my kids’ heads, but I learned some fascinating trivia. For example, did you know that a man name Stefaan Engels ran a marathon a day (!) every day for one year to inspire others to take time to exercise? He went through 25 pairs of shoes – which actually seems low to me, given how many miles he traveled! AND he averaged four hours per race!!!

Cinder Edna was recommended to me by Sarah. We have all enjoyed this book, which pairs the traditional Cinderella up with her much more self-sufficiency minded next door neighbor, Cinder Edna.

Burnt toast making Clink lives in a store with much newer, fancier, and shinier machines. He hopes and hopes for an owner, and finally gives up. Then one day the perfect owner shows up. Clink puts on a huge show to get his attention, and in the process trashes the shop. Will he end up in the trash, too? We all enjoyed this story of friendship, and I like the messages it carries that there is value in imperfection – and broken robots can be fixed!

Eight Hands Round: A Patchwork Alphabet Alphabet books are always a hit in our home, and Emma especially enjoyed looking at the different patchwork squares in this book. If you like quilts or are a quilter, this is an especially neat book!

MaryAnne is a craft loving educator, musician, photographer, and writer who lives in Silicon Valley with her husband Mike and their four children.

  1. At one point it seemed like I’d heard of most of the books shown on blogs but now that it’s been over five years out of the classroom titles are beginning to look new and I’ve got to check out Cinder Edna. I think ER would get a kick out of it.

  2. I love it when you share your picks. 3 out of 4 are completely new to us, and they all look good (except, I think I’ll wait with the first book until daughter is a bit older). Thanks for joining WMCIR!
