The Day My Preschooler’s Dreams Came True

A single pair of shoes made my preschooler leap for joy because her dream of light-up shoes had come true. And I realized I was witnessing a miracle. Sponsored by Zappos.

Her Dream, My Miracle

What You'll Find on This Page

This month, Zappos very kindly sent my daughter Anna a pair of shoes, as part of today’s sponsored post. These colorful light-up shoes are a dream come true for Anna, and she can’t wait to share them with her preschool friends! As I watched her leap for joy in her new Stride Rite Leepz, it hit me just how amazing this little celebration of hers was.

Zappos is an awesome place to buy shoes. They have fast, free shipping, a 365-day return policy, and world class customer service. They also carry a range of high quality shoes, including Stride Rite – my favorite brand of shoe for young children. Besides lighting up (just about every preschooler’s dream), these shoes have great support and fantastic tread. Velcro closures mean that Anna can quickly put them on and take them off, all on her own. This is a big deal when I am trying to get all four children off to school on time in the mornings!

The light-up feature on these shoes combined with comfort and great traction got Anna jumping right away! As I watched Anna leaping away in her Stride Rite Leepz, I was amazed at how far she has come!

You see, when Anna was born, she acted like her left leg didn’t even exist. We don’t know what happened for sure, but it’s reasonable to believe that her left leg was locked in place in the womb. She also likely suffered a mild perinatal stroke when she was born. It took hours of physical and occupational therapy to train Anna to notice and use this leg, and to build up enough strength to walk evenly.

More Than Show

This morning I watched Anna joyfully pull on her new Stride Rite Leepz light-up shoes before heading to the park. She saw colorful shoes that lit up; shoes that she can’t wait to show her preschool friends. I saw my baby who struggled to stand walking, running, and jumping – in well-designed shoes that support her every step.

  1. Awww, look at how excited she is about her shoes.

And I’d completely forgotten about her struggles earlier, there’s no sign of it now (well at least not in action in photos).
