Dinosaur Land

play doh dinosaur land

The idea for this activity came from this post at Filth Wizardry. Our Dinosaur Land isn’t nearly as cool as Kitten Muffin’s Dinosaur Island, but my kids still had a blast playing with it, and they want to do this again, soon. Lily wasn’t allowed to participate (due to her continued attendance at the Put Everything You Can Reach In Your Mouth School), but she was still highly entertained:

Happy Lily

Can you spot Lily’s TWO teeth?

If you have never visited Kitten Muffin’s blog, I highly recommend it. Her blog is so awesome that my big brother emailed me suggesting that I check it out, not knowing that I’ve been a devoted reader for a year or so. How often does the same blog appeal to a stay-at-home mom AND an Air Force helicopter pilot (who has three little boys)? Kitten Muffin is the mother of two of the luckiest daughters in the world – check out their dad’s blog too.

  1. Ooh, I forgot to say, about a month or so ago a mate of mine emailed me your blog address saying that he thought I’d enjoy it, not knowing that I’ve been subscribed to your blog for ages too ;) and he’s an IT consultant, so now you know that you appeal to stay at home mums and IT consultants ;)

  2. Aww, thanks for the kind words M :) homemade playdough is pure awesomeness! So many possibilities for young minds! My lot had another dino-island going on the morning before I went in for surgery, but currently all the dinos are out in the sandbox with a bunch of rocks and random foliage. It’s raining and I forgot to put the lid on, so a few of them look like they have drowned. Ooops. Still, at least the paint is being washed off the playstructure without me having to lift a finger!

Hope the happy little cutie’s teeth aren’t causing too much trouble for her (or you!).

Yes, I can see Lily’s two teeth! They look just like Jesse’s! You are so right–our babies are growing way, way too fast!!

Hurrah for Lily’s teeth! The littlest ones have a nonstop supply of entertainment at our houses. :)

Love the idea of turning playdoh into an interactive landform!

  7. What a fun, creative dinosaur land. Filth Wizardy is an excellent blog, I love popping by there and being inspired by her awesome and creative ideas.

I see those little toothy pegs. I hope they are not causing her (and you) too much grief.

I have taken a note of some of your book recommendations that I think my children would also enjoy. I am particularly interested in the book titled: My Mother Is Mine as it is always great to hear of a recommendation for a baby. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like they had a great time with dinosaur island! I saw Kitten Muffin’s blog was featured in the latest issue of Family Fun magazine. I’ve been reading her blog for a long time now too. Great stuff!!
