Crayola Review and Gift-away!

It’s no secret that I adore Crayola products – so when I was offered the chance to try out – and host a giveaway for – the new Crayola Digital Light Designer and Crayola Marker Airbrush, it was easy to say yes!

My son adored the rocket ship shape of the Crayola Marker Airbrush, so it’s no surprise that he chose to use the rocket ship stencil for our trial paper run as well as the design for his shirt.

The process is incredibly simple: insert one of of Crayola’s Classic Washable Broadline Markers, Washable Broadline Window Markers, or new Bright Fabric Broadline Markers, pump, and spray – this is a battery-free toy! The Marker Airbrush comes with a nice range of stencils – from Johnny’s rocket ship to Emma’s butterfly:

I love how easy it is to use several different colors for the same design. The ease of use combined with the beauty of the finished product make this a great way for kids to personalize gifts for others! Crayola recommends using light colored shirts, but the design shows up pretty well on Johnny’s army green shirt!

We loved the Crayola Marker Airbrush so much, we made a little video so that you could see it in action:

The kids have not had as much time to play with the Crayola Digital Light Designer – we saved it for Johnny’s birthday, so they’ve only had it since Saturday. They haven’t yet discovered the games, but they all enjoy doodling with Rainbow Draw and Mirror Draw, and three-year-old Lily (who tends to gravitate the most towards technology) has figured out how to do some of the animation effects.

The Digital Light Designer is really a brilliant design – the center of it spins around, and has sensors on one side of the spinner and LED lights on the other. It reminded all of us of the Sponaneous Fantasia show we saw at the Boston Museum of Science. Here is a brief video clip of it in action – my apologies for the shakiness, four-month-olds make for interesting assistant videographers…

Have you ever used an airbrush? If so, what for?

  2. My daughter would love the light designer. I was actually looking at one for her for Christmas but wasn’t sure if she was old enough, so glad to hear about your 3-year-old.

  3. I have always liked the classic crayola products and am happy to see all the new products. Crayola is keeping the classics and offering more modern toys and supplies. I’d like to try the Crayola Digital Light Designer.

  4. We love Crayola too! The air-brush is such a cool idea – looks like it works like a garden sprayer! I am also fascinated by the digital designer – I would want to try it out!

  5. I have always loved Crayola products, and would love to win the giveaway for one of my grandkids.

Give Anna a kiss for me. All the others would probably go meh!

  8. My kids would love anything from Crayola. I personally Would like them to have the crayon tower or to try out the color wonder products.

  9. We’ve gotten Story Studio before and made several stories. The kids loved that. It’s not on there but we love the crayon and marker towers, my kids call them “cake markers,” and we use them almost daily.

  10. This is all so high tech for sure, the only crayola products we have are good old fashioned crayons. I am sure my kids would enjoy this product, love the video.
