Banana Oatmeal Pancake Recipe

banana oatmeal pancakes

These oatmeal banana pancakes are easy to make, have no added sugar, and my kids eat them ALL every single time I make them. The little dark marks on the pancakes in the photo are chocolate chips (which DOES add some sugar). The chocolate chips are not at all required but very delicious – unless you are my eight-year-old who prefers chocolate chip free pancakes. The bananas (and especially chocolate chips, if you add them) make these sweet enough that my kids are happy to eat them for breakfast, dinner, or as an after school snack with no added toppings – pretty healthy! This is a great kid-friendly recipe that also provides opportunities for kids to practice fractions!

Banana Oatmeal Pancake Recipe

  • 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk (I sometimes substitute kefir or buttermilk here)
  • 2 mashed bananas – the riper the better. Frozen bananas work, also, provided you let them thaw out enough to mash.
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Combine flour, oats, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Stir will, and then add in eggs, milk, bananas, and vanilla. Stir until all ingredients are combined, then cook on a griddle. I set our electric griddle to 350 degrees.

My 7 year old begs to differ with your 8 year old. Everything is better with chocolate chips! Great recipe!

  2. I’m going to have to give these a try since they remind me of a wonderful banana bread I used to make, which had chocolate chips. Sounds delicious!

  3. Yes we have a favorite pancake recipe that I got from the Simply Recipes blog. But I’m always open to new pancake recipes and in fact went through a series where I tried different ones all the time. We love pancakes and have Pancake Saturdays every week :)

  4. These look delicious – I like the no added sugar!! Pumpkin pancakes are my favorite but I can’t remember the last time I made them!
