Back to School–Week in Review

Looking for ants

The kids and I thoroughly enjoyed having this week off school! Mike got Monday off work, and he took the kids first to an indoor playground and then to watch the Boston Marathon, giving me an unprecedented four hours at home! I spent the time sorting through all four kids’ clothes (yes, I got the tiny baby clothes out, because I just never have time to do things like that – plus they are cute!!!) and putting together the details for this project. The kids came home having had a great time with Mike and my brother, sister-in-law, and their baby cousin, who met up with them at the marathon. They didn’t see the two people we knew who were running, but were incredibly impressed by the wheelchair runners.

We kept the week quiet, and mostly at home. The weather was mostly nice, and the kids played outside as much as their bug phobia issues let them (working on that). I enjoyed lots of down time with the kids – reading books (Emma is now on book seven of the Ramona series!), making things, and watching them play (our new Tegu blocks were a big hit!). Emma made a present for her friend’s birthday, and thoroughly enjoyed his Lego-themed party. We also added peas to our garden, and our tomato seeds started growing! Well, in three of the six pots – I replanted the other three, and we have small sprouts in those that will hopefully survive!

This week it’s back to school, and a push for me to finish up my goals for the month! Looks like I’ll be (finally!) writing up those conference notes… And putting together the amazing submissions for the Small Hands Creating HOPE book!

I just got some purple gloves that look just like Emma’s (yours?) in the picture. :) My kids are currently playing outside in the neighbour’s construction dirt he pushed through the fence, and having a blast. :)

So glad you enjoyed the week off school and your 4 (four!) hours home alone. Ben started doing that for me during my fourth pregnancy, too, and it was a HUGE help.

  2. A Lego party, I”ve always wanted to do one.

I can’t wait to see the Cancer project, it’s still a little too raw for me to participate, but I can’t wait to see it.

  3. It sounds like you had a very nice week. How nice of Mike to give you some time on your own, I can see that with three kids it’s almost impossible to get it.
