Mike is very into aviation. It’s in his blood – both his dad and grandfather were pilots, and he learned to fly at his dad’s flight school as a teenager. This means that our kids get cool paper airplanes! Some that fly, and some (like this one) that are more for show.
Mike hasn’t done any real flying in years, but he took the kids along for a spin thanks to the open-source (and therefore free) FlightGear. Pretty amazing!

That is one awesome paper plane. My cherubs would be in awe of that. Is Mike up for doing any tutorials on some of his paper planes that fly? We (especially my cherubs) would love this.
I’ll have to check out that open source flight simulator.
I’ll see what we can do about a tutorial =)
Dave loves flight simulators too. He just got a new one, but I forgot what it’s called. I remember playing one way back when I was in 4th grade or so. I think it was called F29. It’s funny how much the graphics have changed. Dave’s look so real!
My brothers had one growing up that was much less sophisticated than this freeware version. I’d love to see one of the new ones with amazing graphics.
Love it – how amazing that Mike can fly airplanes. His paper airplane is quite amazing!
Love the paper airplane!
Awesome! next thing you know they’ll be making remote controlled airplanes or rockets!
That is undoubtedly the most fabulous paper airplane I have ever seen!
I had no idea there was an open source flight simulator online… my kids are constantly pretending they are on airplanes, and I am sure they’d be blown away by what the instrument panel really looks like.
That would be awesome! My kids would go crazy!
The paper plane is the BEST!
Very cool!!!
I better not let my kids see that plane, or I’m never going to hear the end of when will they get it…….
That is one neat air plane!! Yes technology is amazing!
